Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao


It is an Indian Government Campaign which aims to generate and spread awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India.
It was launched on 22 January 2015 by Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with an initial funding of Rs 2100 Crore which aims to address the issue of the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) image.
It is a National initiative jointly run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Human Resource Development. 
It initially focused multi-sector action in 100 districts which mainly targets the cluster in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Punjab, Bihar and Delhi etc and throughout the country where there was a low CSR.
Reports which actually become reasons for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Campaign launch: -
According to the census data in India-
          1. Child Sex Ratio (0-6 years) in India was 927 girls per 1000 boys in 2001.
2. It dropped to 918 girls per 1000 boys in 2011.
3. India ranked 41st amongst 195 countries in 2012 according to UNICEF for CSR. 

So on the occasion of International Day of Girl Child in 2014, the Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called for the eradication of female feticide and invited suggestions from citizens of India via the myGov.in Portal.
On 26th August 2016, Olympic 2016 Bronze Medalist Ms Sakshi Malik was made the Brand Ambassador for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
